We are associated with High Halden C Of E Primary School

Lunchtime is between 12noon and 1pm. All children attending over the lunch session will need a packed lunch.

We also operate a snack bar, which is open throughout the morning and afternoon for children to come and eat at when they are hungry. In addition, we do cookery activities regularly with the children.

We regard snack and meal times as an important part of our day. Eating represents a social time for the children and adults and helps children to learn about healthy eating. We promote healthy eating through activities, dicussions and topics. We follow the 5-a-day guidelines set by the NHS along with our own ideas for snack, some of which are: toast, fruit, vegetable sticks, cheese, soup, fromage frais, breadsticks and dip. With milk and water, juice on special occassions.

All children’s lunch items need to be stored in the refrigerator so please can items be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Here are our lunch box guidelines:

  • All lunchboxes to be clearly labelled with your child’s name on the outside
  • All food to be clearly labelled as lunches are put into individual clear bags and placed in the fridge
  • All children to be provided with a drink (no fizzy drinks or glass bottles)
  • NO NUTS or food containing nuts such as peanut butter, etc
  • No sweets but biscuit treats are acceptable, e.g. Kit Kats, Penguins, Time Out etc
  • Only one bisquit treat is needed
  • Don’t forget having your five a day is really important so we always encourage plenty of
    fruit in lunch boxes
  • If you bring yoghurt(s) for your child, a spoon from home would be very much appreciated
