We are associated with High Halden C Of E Primary School

At Little Acorns we are committed to providing equality of access to pre-school education to all children.

We accept children from the age of 2 years old to 5 years old, whether potty trained or not. We are open from Monday to Friday from 8:45am – 3:30pm. There are six terms a year and holidays are taken to coincide with those set by Kent County Council, and therefore the local schools.

We recommend that when your child starts at the Nursery they attend a minimum of two sessions per week, as this helps them to settle in more easily, making new friends and building relationships with staff. As all children are individuals our settling in procedures are flexible and can be adapted to the needs of the child, to ensure that they are comfortable with their new surroundings. Usually this takes the form of settling in sessions to meet staff and other children prior to starting at Nursery. It is also an important time to meet your child’s key person, who will be the person that works most closely with your child during their time at Nursery, and will ensure that their emotional needs are met.

As a registered Charity we will undertake fund-raising activities and events through the year. Your support at these events is very much appreciated, events include: sports day, cakes sales, Christmas party, Easter egg hunt and open days.

As a nursery we are actively involoved in the community, going to the local park, participating in church events, and welcoming people to look around with regular coffee mornings and open days. Every Summer term we take all the children on an outing for the day to places such as: Howletts, the Rare Breeds Centre and Clambers.

It is also a condition of our registration and constitution that we hold an Annual General Meeting during the Summer Term, at this meeting an election is held to establish a new committee. A letter containing the details will be given prior to the meeting allowing adequate time for arrangements to be made to allow all parents/carers to attend. It is a legal requirement of the Charities Commission that there be a set percentage of the Nursery families present at the AGM , If there are adequate families represented then the meeting can go ahead and is deemed quorate. If this is not the case it will have to be held again. The Nursery must have a yearly quorate AGM to continue running.
